The Innovative Educators Alliance (IEA) provides a central meeting point for the diverse islands of innovation that are emerging in the Australian educational landscape. 

We are a group of passionate and experienced educators who are walking our own paths towards establishing innovative schools. Through IEA, we aim to avoid reinventing the wheel by sharing our knowledge, experiences, and ideas.

More than just a network!

IEA is also an incubator for novel ideas in education. We provide information on people, events, places, and thinking spaces for evidence-based optimism, inspiration, and celebration, because together there is a world of possibilities.

THE BACKGROUND

Over the past decade, the landscape of education has undergone dramatic changes. A National Curriculum and systems of accountability have been implemented in schools, alongside a generational shift that has brought with it increased social dislocation and reduced resilience.

Furthermore, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has led to significant changes in parental and student perceptions and has highlighted the need for education to adapt to a world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA). Despite these rapid shifts, the education system itself has remained largely unchanged.

If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.

To address these challenges, we must embrace a new vision of education that is dynamic, innovative, and responsive to the needs of individual learners and society as a whole.

IEA hopes to accelerate this process and synthesise innovative ideas from all corners.
