A Hub for Innovation Inspirations
The world of innovative education is one that is mostly silo’d, with individuals and groups pursuing exciting new pedagogies and curricula but often unaware of the existence of each other and of the broader network of innovators.
From homeschooling parents to metropolitan principals, many educators are trapped in a bubble of their own classrooms or schools and unable to engage with innovations in the larger education sphere outside of formalised professional development, which is often years behind the cutting edge.
Too many exciting discussions happen at networking events, at professional development days, and in facebook groups, but don’t get a chance to impact the many other educators who shouldn’t have to reinvent that same wheel.
Real innovation in the education sector requires that progress is recorded and shared. IEA has created its Thinking Spaces to address this need.
CURATED RESOURCE BANK
We seek to curate and connect the best of innovative practice in classrooms, homes, and schools by promoting and preserving the best of what we come across in online group discussions, evidence-based research, networking events, individual creators, and our own hosted events.
[Before displaying the list of content in the resource bank, show a Sort/Filter/Search feature based on a tag system.]
THE CHALK LINE
Example topic:
Leadership / admin in schools should deal with behaviour issues.
“Can’t be solved. I am leaving the profession. I give up!”
“Kids’ brains and parental permissiveness are at fault. Not much a teacher or admin can do.”
“Punitive system does not work now. Can’t do as needed in system.”
“Consequences for actions and restorative chats & system.”
“Follow the principles of kindness and common sense, don’t be over the top.”
“Ideally teacher and parent first, admin if needed for heavy events in consultation with all.”
“Admin should deal with this, not my problem. Suspend, send elsewhere.”
With an internet full of things to comb through, it’s hard to find the best stuff. We want to break through the noise by nominating our Favourites – favourite resources, quotes, practices, habits, anything you can think of! Don’t let those nuggets of wisdom go to waste.
If it made a difference for you, share it with other educators.
Some kinds of Favourites you might want to share:
Favourite
